Birthplace And Family History
Kalam was born on the 15th of October, 1931, in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. Abdul Kalam was Ashiamma’s and Jainulabdeen’s son. Kalam has four siblings: two brothers and two sisters, with Kalam being the youngest of them all.
Kalam’s father was a boat owner who also worked as an Imam in a local mosque, while his mother was a homemaker. Abdul Kalam’s family was poor, therefore he sold newspapers to supplement the family’s income in his early years.

In 1969, Abdul Kalam was sent to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The Kalam was appointed as the project leader of the Satelite Launch Vehicle (SLV- III), and it was under his guidance that the Rohini satellite was launched.
