Bihu – the festival of colours that celebrates spring. It is a religious festival of the Assamese people which has been celebrated in Assam since ancient times.  The Bihu festival is celebrated in the month of April by the Assamese people of Assam, India. The Bihu festival is celebrated with great fanfare on the first day of the Assamese month of  Makara  which is usually in the month of April, but occasionally it may take place in the month of  Phalgun  based on the lunar calendar.
