The Indian Constitution, as we all know, was drafted by the first President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad in its formative stages (1949) and since then it has served as our guiding document. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a social reformer who played a dynamic role in India’s freedom struggle. He laid the foundation for our Constitution and was a Parliamentarian for a full third of India’s independent history. This is the first time that the constitution of one of the World’s oldest democracies has been written by a woman.

The Father of the Nation, Dr. Rajendra Prasad (1879-1963), is among the most important figures in the history of independent India. He was elected President of the Constituent Assembly, the first leader of a free India.

Dr.Rajendra Prasad was the second president of India, serving from 1956 to 1962, and was the first non-Congress prime minister of India. He is often called the ‘Father of the Indian constitution’. He was a brilliant scholar from his infancy, and his parents helped him by teaching him and sending him to several schools so that he could study a variety of languages. After that, he finished his schooling, and at the age of 12, he married Rajalakshmi Devi. He was a brilliant scholar, and he and his brother studied for two years at the Academy in Patna, where he received a scholarship and Rs 30 per month, before pursuing his F.A. at the University of Calcutta. He was not through with his studies after obtaining FA; he went on to get his M.A. in economics.

He quit teaching in the midst of his career to concentrate on his studies in law, and he earned a doctorate in law from Allahabad University before joining the Bihar High Court in 1916. He joined the Indian National Congress, met Mahatma Gandhi, and assisted in the Champaran and noncooperation movements while pursuing his legal education.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad supported Mahatma Gandhi in all of his activities, and he authored numerous revolutionary essays throughout the course of his independence struggle. In the year 1914, Bihar was hit by a massive flood, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad assisted many people who were afflicted by the storm.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad was chosen the first President of our Indian Republic after the country’s independence was declared. During his presidency, he did an excellent job of laying the foundations of our country, and he followed the constitution to the letter.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad, however, died on February 28, 1963, at the age of 78. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was also awarded the Bharat Ratna award in 1962 for his services to our country. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a wonderful leader who served our country well and also contributed to our country’s freedom.
