How I spent my last Sunday: Essay, IELTS form, speech, paragraph: Time waits for no man. It slips out like sand out of your hand. But why is there not enough time for me this week? It’s been a boring week, and I’m looking forward to Sunday. No, no big plans! But all I want to do is crawl into bed, be lazy and sleep to take my mind off things. My school life is going well. Conferences, assignments, papers, stressful internship negotiations, career conference…. Oh my God! Sometimes I want to run away to a faraway place, to spend a quiet moment and be happy.

Well, that’s not gonna happen. No fairy tales come true. Really? I have friends I really want to meet, but they are all mad at me for not seeing them often. How can I tell them that I really miss them, but I don’t have the skills to communicate. Contemplating all this, I decided to finish my college work this Saturday night, simply because I didn’t feel like doing it tomorrow, Sunday. Late that night I slept with the only thought that the next day would be Sunday, when I would be able to sleep more.
Because I was sleepy, I woke up late in the morning. The day was bright and sunny. Of course, my mother wore red when I woke up late. So I took no chances, I freshened up and helped my mother in the kitchen to cheer her up with my jokes.

Breakfast was served and we ate and watched TV. Since I couldn’t see anything on television, I plunged into my favorite screen, my laptop. I love watching movies, so I quickly went to the movie section and started watching one. Before I was done, it was time for lunch. I had lunch with my family and thought about what to do next. I decided to call my friends and ask them to meet up, because that would turn their angry faces into happy ones. As I grabbed my cell phone, the doorbell rang. I opened the door and my two friends surprised me. Suddenly the room was filled with joy and excitement. They hugged me and ordered me to get ready to leave. Indeed! That’s all I wanted. The girls are going out on Sunday! After a few snacks and conversation, we left. Along the way, we surprised one of our friends and took her with us. The girl gang is finally over. We all went to the Sunday fair that the town has been talking about for the last few days. We all wandered around for hours, chatting, teasing and talking to each other. The fair was well organized with crafts, food, games, music, entertainment and a crowded hall. The highlight was the arrival of the guests for the band’s concert, which had just started. We all sang and danced to the music. Time passed and soon we were on our way home. When I got home, I felt appreciated and filled with the joy of our bond.

When I got home, to my great surprise I saw my brother arriving from Bangalore after a long time. I knew nothing of his arrival and I was just as happy. To celebrate his arrival, my father decided to take us to the movies and invite us to dinner. While watching the movie and having dinner, we laughed, talked, shared memories and spent a lot of time as a family. When I got home, my brother and I talked and exchanged some things.

A day with my family.

As I almost fell asleep, I realized that Sunday was one of the best days of my life because two important things happened today – my friends and my family. What could be better than spending a day with your loved ones? I really don’t need big parties or big plans. It’s important to me to cherish the moments I spend with my loved ones. After all, luck is just luck, isn’t it!
