What is Rsp in Education?

In order to be an RSP, a teacher must have a Resource Specialist Authorization in addition to a teaching credential. The requirements for this authorization are:

-A California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) score of 155 or higher

The Resource Specialist Authorization is valid for five years and may be renewed. To renew the authorization, the resource specialist must submit a renewal form and fee to the Commission no later than 30 days prior to the expiration date. The form and fee can be submitted by mail or fax. The resource specialist will receive a renewal notice approximately 60 days before the expiration date.

3. Demonstrate satisfactory proficiency, as determined by the employing agency, in each of the following areas:

-Read aloud from texts at instructional level with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression on a passage selected by the employing agency

-Model and explain various reading strategies including word attack skills, comprehension skills, and vocabulary development strategies

4. Pass the CSET: Multiple Subjects Examination OR the CSET: Single Subject Examination in his/her subject area(s) of specialization with a score that meets or exceeds the cut scores established by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)

5. Have his/her credentials reviewed and approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
