Why was Children’s Day celebrated on 14 December ? November ?
Children’s Day / National Children’s Day is one of those days in India when the entire population unanimously becomes children this time. The 14th. November, which is also widely celebrated as Children’s Day, was also the birth anniversary of Indian politician Jawaharlal Nehru. He was known to love children and love them equally; and to celebrate his contribution to our country, his birthday was chosen and dedicated to all the children of India – hence the celebration.

The man behind the children’s party
This one-day commitment to children was the beginning of what I now call One Day, One Cause. Let’s look at the man behind the celebration: Nehru was the first Prime Minister of independent India in 1947. After his tenure as Prime Minister, he became Minister of Defense (1953-1955, 1957 January-April, 1962 October-November), Minister of Finance (1956 July-August, 1958 February-March) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1947-1964). He took root in the Kashmiri Pandit community and was known as Pandit Nehru, while his children gave him the title Chacha (uncle) Nehru.
How do you celebrate Children’s Day?
This would probably be the only day of the year when the children would be ready to go to their school, as classes would be suspended on that day. Each school finds it appropriate to celebrate Children’s Day with different programs, usually consisting of music, dance, puppet shows, skits, etc. These activities are organized and led by the teachers themselves for their beloved little monsters. Organizations like Bal Bhavan (an entertainment center for children) organize various activities and competitions like crafts, games, drawing etc. Kids have fun throughout the event and are usually rewarded with free food at the end of the event.

Although celebrations in schools are very common, thinking of disadvantaged children would make them even better. This is done by encouraging students to get out of their own way and share their happiness – by spending quality time with them. Not only institutions but also families will try to do the same for the underprivileged. It is a gesture to spread positivity and equality. In addition, children can make new friends while opening their minds to reality.

As easy as it is to say, change can be hard; but as we know, change is the only constant in our lives, and initiative is all it takes to set an idea in motion. But since we live in a fast-paced era, launching an idea – especially one dedicated to good intentions – shouldn’t be a major challenge. I also don’t think we need a specific day to celebrate love or youth. In fact, every day should be a celebration; after all, a celebration is a recognition and appreciation of a person, their work or their life in general. So, you appreciate the people around you, whether they are children, relatives, friends, etc. – every day is automatically dedicated to your loved ones. Thus, GenZ’s path to equality and positive vibrations can be initiated.
